Why would you want to post to a thread if you aren't interested in the response?I'm capable of checking it myself at a later time. Grant Darwin NT |

Have you seen the messages from a number of users in the Number Crunching : Rosetta 4.1+ and 4.2+ thread about frequent upload errors after very short run times for tasks with names starting with TFSCAFFOLD0001_ ? More about same problem in Number crunching : Problems and Technical Issues with Rosetta@home thread. |

Hello Moderators, There appears to be a spam account (Medstoreonline) that was created on 18 September advertising potency medication. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=14220&postid=99029 I have a feeling this runs afoul of forum rules. |

Thanks for providing this channel as I can't create a new thread in any of the forums. After completing three tasks today before the scheduled deadline, on uploading they get marked 'Aborted by project'. Why is that ? Does that mean my pc has done hours of processing for no credit? For example: Application Rosetta 4.20 Name FGF_gogogo_1_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_6kd7oh3s_1019051_3 State Aborted by project Received Thu 29 Oct 2020 23:06:36 GMT Report deadline Sun 01 Nov 2020 23:06:33 GMT and two other tasks. Thanks in anticipation. |

Thanks for providing this channel as I can't create a new thread in any of the forums. You could have used any of the existing ones in Number Crunching for such a question. After completing three tasks today before the scheduled deadline, on uploading they get marked 'Aborted by project'. Why is that ? Does that mean my pc has done hours of processing for no credit? They had been sent out to another system, and hadn't been returned by the deadline, so they were then sent out to you. Then the other system finally returned them, before you had started to process them, so they were cancelled by the server. I suggested a while back changes for when work not returned by the deadline was resent to avoid this from occurring, however... Grant Darwin NT |

Hi! I've noticed that my machines haven't had much if any work for a few days or maybe longer and it looks like the work queue is at zero? Is there something wrong at the project level ? Any info would be appreciated. Cheers, Bob |

I left everything 100% but the boinc is stopped in the rosetta @ home project. This is normal? |

Hi! The number of jobs in progress is far from zero. This suggests that tasks are still being created, just not enough of them to satisfy the demand from users. The project is barely saying anything at all on the forums, so we have to guess about whether there is something wrong there. Two possibilities I've thought of: COVID-19 restrictions limiting the number of students who can create the workunits. The project is run from a campus on the west coast of the US. It's wildfire season there. You can add another BOINC project to keep your computer busy while there is no Rosetta@home work. I prefer World Community Grid, especially the Open Pandemics subproject which is mainly working on COVID-19. https://join.worldcommunitygrid.org?recruiterId=480838 Make sure you enable the Open Pandemics work, which will be mainly for COVID-19 at first. You should choose settings that allow doing other types of work if the COVID-19 work runs low. |

I've received several tasks that give Error while computing with the following error messages: Using database: database_357d5d93529_n_methylminirosetta_database ERROR: ERROR: FragmentIO: could not open file 00001.500.6mers Could you check if 00001.500.6mers is actually in the right place either in the database or on the server that it should be available at this point? |

I was getting no new jobs from rosetta for a few days. I have readded the project but now I'm constantly getting this job but it appears to be broken. I saw the following line in your log files: ERROR: ERROR: FragmentIO: could not open file 00001.500.6mers That's been a known frequent problem for at least a week, for many people. About all you can do for these is hope that the project staff finally work out a way to stop sending tasks using the missing file without including that file in what is sent. A higher percentage of the jobs that run longer than 30 seconds will work properly, but not even all of them. The project no longer seems to have a moderator reading the message boards, but some users try to give useful answers instead. |

My name is Ralph Green and I have run into a situation and I'm not sure how to handle it. The following project has been running for 50 hours. I have left it allowed it to run it's course. But at this point I wondering why it is running so slowly!. I am eager to know more...ant help would be appreciated. It only has 11 minutes of CPU time but over 50 hours of running time. It sounds like a bad wu but progress is at 99%. Has progress been moving at all? If not, abort. It's not your system's fault, other users report the same issues. |

Yes, the remaining time has been going down but, at a snails pace...it has been decreasing at about one second every 90 seconds I believe. I am inclined to just let it finish the process and see what happens after it posts to the server and see if the results are viable. If it posts to the server do you have all the info you need to follow this project? This information could help you in finding out why this is happening. Thanks for your help, Ralph Green |

Hi Ralph, I would recommend that you abort that task. If the task isn't using CPU time then something is wrong. Things have been moving quickly around here and some of the tasks don't work perfectly it seems. I have had to abort quite a few, mainly on one machine though. Also, the best place to get help is in the "Number Crunching" board as more people visit there. |

rosetta python takes about 2 hours 20 min on my Intel i5 9400F. Vbox ia 6.1.30. 3.5 to 4 hrs on a Ryzen 7 3700 You have a average benchmark of 86.1% vs ,u 84.4 But are you pushing your processor? Because I am .5 GHZ faster than your base speed. Or your getting different work than I am. |

I never OC any processor or GPU. I am an old Linux user and I am amazed that most tasks on my Windows 11 PC are done faster than my Linux wingmen. Only a faster Windows CPU beats my PC. Tullio |

No...The system has not been tweaked in any way and there has been no GPU assist either. |
