i'm not able to fully connect my two computers on one localhost, theyre both on the same account, but if i click the your computers button on the client, it will not show up for the opposite computer (the credit that is)
i recently bought a new computer and it is running the actual client just fine, but i wanted to know how to fully merge the two computers into one host under my account

You can't merge them, unless they are in fact the same computer. Even two computers of the same kind cannot be merged. However they computers will both report their results and credits under the same user ID

Identical computers and OS combinations can indeed be merged, causing some of the astonomical RAC scores seen. I've tried it, it works.

The two computers in question are not identical, and cannot be merged

Your statement was :
Even two computers of the same kind cannot be merged.

which is false.

There's always the WIKI:
You can merge two computers if, and only if, the text descriptions are identical including the CPU Type, CPU speed, and Operating System name and version.

Merge Hosts

You can merge hosts if the descriptions are the same. It doesn't care about serial numbers, make model or whatever.
As a test, on a closed project, I merged 5 P4 2.8 Dual Xeons into one host. They were identical PCs, but in different locations, with different IP addresses, and names, but identical Windows OS distributions.

Just for fun, I'll do it with 3 hosts here. Yup- 3 dual Xeons are now one host. Does wonders for the RAC as well.

You may have failed to notice the word OFFICIAL in my request for a link.

You also did not point out in your incomplete quote from the page that you did cite, it does not say you can merge two different physical computers, in fact quite the oposite. You also did not post a link to the OFFICIAL BOINC documentation on this subject. The page you posted is the UN-OFFICIAL BOINC WIKI.

The official documentation on this question is here

You may continue this if you like but I have more important things to do. Nothing you have said changes the fact that the two computers CODY asked about cannot be merged. Subject closed.

You can do the 'head-in-the-sand' thing all you want, and say that it's impossible, but there's plenty of people who will be happy to show you otherwise. Real world experience about the way it really works, not the weak one sentence BOINC doc that doesn't even say it can't be done.

I never said Cody could merge his hosts. I'm merely correcting your erroneous statement that "Even two computers of the same kind cannot be merged."

i'm sorry... i misspoke.

i meant to ask how to merge my two computers onto a single host.

i have looked around for this, and wasn't able to find anything

the problem is, i would like to keep my current results and credits if that is possible

i meant to ask how to merge my two computers onto a single host.

Go here, select the Computer ID of one you'd like to merge, then on the next page, go all the way to the bottom of the screen and select "merge this host". It there is NO option to merge, then it can't be merged.

does this help?

tony

Too bad for you he was talking about your buddy, Mod No 9, who just HATES it when someone points out one of his errors.
