Just checked the Rosetta version and found out that it's now 4.98, so I wanted to replace the rosetta_4.83_windows_intelx86.pdb file with the new one, but the rosetta_4.98_windows_intelx86.pdb doesn't seem to be available?

Isn't it necessary anymore? I can't see any information about this.

And, BTW, I still have rosetta_4.77_windows_intelx86 in my project folder. And with the related files attached to it, I suppose. How do I get rid of it without detaching from the project?

"Project reset" should do what you want (get rid of any old files left over; that's odd).

You could set to "No new work", so it works through the existing WUs and cleans the cache, then do a reset. And then allow new work again.

When I don't care about losing current WUs in progress (as in the RALPH alpha test project), I just reset when new app version comes out, to immediately get the new .exe and new WUs.

The new application version will take care of itself. In fact, I'm presently running one WU back from 4.83, and a new one from 4.98, at the same time!

What Fuzzy is talking about is a file that allows enhanced debugging of WU problems, described here. Note how the application version is in the name of this special download.

So, I believe you missed fuzzy's point. That there isn't yet a 4.98 version available. Which sounds reasonable to me. If I had to drop my yardwork, my family, and my plans, and run in to work to put out a fire, I would leave that to Monday too. I'd expect to see it later on Monday.

As for your 4.77 (i.e. obsolete) version, I'd presume you just delete it from the directory, and the project will run just as it did before you added it.

Thanks to both of you.

First, Dimitris has a point, because I asked two different questions at the same time. The 4.77 application came back then and apparently wasn't cleaned out with the newer applications. So yes, a reset should clean it out. But it doesn't as I've reset the project several times since the 4.77. And I just wondered how many of the other files in the folder, that belongs to the 4.77 version, because yes, I can just delete the 4.77 exe file, but why leave the rest obsolete files?

But I'll detach and attach again after having emptied my cache. And I'm just annoyed at myself that I didn't do that one week ago, where I emptied my caches before I had a stick of RAM put in last Monday. I could just as well have done it then. :-(

And I didn't know the 4.98 was so new, as I just checked and saw the new version number. But I'll keep an eye on the site for the rosetta_4.98_windows_intelx86.pdb file. Of course they shouldn't rush in from their spare time to make it, but as I said, I didn't know when the 4.98 was released.

My apologies fuzzy, yes, the boards were full of discussion about the new 4.98 being created to preempt problems that were flaring up on Saturday with 4.97. I had just read about a dozen of those posts when I responded, so I missed the point that you just happened upon the new version... timing is everything!

For me, I got lucky on the whole thing! I didn't have ANY WUs download with 4.97. I was crunching RAPLH on one box and Rosetta on two others, but with 2.5 day work buffer still running on 4.82.

I think the issue with resetting the project, and that remaining file should be just due to the fact that it was a file that was added after the Rosetta download, and so the code that does the reset probably didn't realize it was there to be removed. That should be the only file that's lingering around if you want to just delete it and continue crunching. ...unless you have some other reason to beleive there's more files around. But I didn't see mention of such. I guess I'm not clear what you meant about "related files attached to it."

You don't need to apologize. :-)

If you look in the project folder, it's full of zipped files. And which ones of these belong to the old 4.77 and which to the new 4.98? I can't tell.

But anyway, I again tried to reset the project, and nothing happened, the 4.77 was still there. So I used brute force and detached from the project and attached again, so now I'm starting with fresh files.

And there's still no rosetta_4.98_windows_intelx86.pdb to download, so maybe they consider it as not necessary?

Anybody from the project? David Kim? Rom?

fuzzy,
rename the 4.83 one to 4.98 and you should be fine as they are actually the same version.

if you need to redownload grab it

Thanks. If you say it's the same file only with a different version number, it should do the same.

At least it doesn't do any harm. :-)
