Hi,

I have an old playstation 3 I'd like to use to contribute computation power to Rosetta@Home.

I was able to install linux and compile boinc, then I tried to connect to the Rosetta server. However it seems that the PowerPC architecture is not supported by this project, which is understandable since it is quite an exotic architecture. I was still able to run the benchmark which gave me this:

19-Apr-2020 18:35:41 [---] Running CPU benchmarks
19-Apr-2020 18:35:41 [---] Suspending computation - CPU benchmarks in progress
19-Apr-2020 18:36:13 [---] Benchmark results:
19-Apr-2020 18:36:13 [---] Number of CPUs: 2
19-Apr-2020 18:36:13 [---] 422 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
19-Apr-2020 18:36:13 [---] 1355 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU
19-Apr-2020 18:36:14 [---] Resuming computation

Therefore I have 2 questions:

    - Is the computation power given by the benchmark seems like a worthwhile platform to contribute power?
    - If so, is there any chance Rosetta@Home can be recompiled to support this architecture? As a developer, I'm willing to help if needed.

Just for some perspective, my phone benchmarked about double those numbers.

Rosetta is not open-source, so recompile is not possible.
