It's my first post here, so I beg your pardon asking possibly stupid questions. I am rather new in number crunching using Boinc and especially Rosetta.
How is the average credit being calculated, that is the base for badges?

When writing this, I have 147,861 credit points earned for rosetta with a RAC of 4,098.23.

However, Boinc combined stats shows me at the same time a total credit of 145,740 and a RAC of 3,894. Obviously, the stats tool is updating the user stats only from time to time, but not in real time or when calling the stats tool. Nevertheless, the tool shows me with the given credit values a 94.8601 percentile for Project Rank Total Credit and a 99.5804 percentile for Project Rank Recent Average Credit.

This is apparently a mismatching with the credit base used for badges. There I am still at "Top 25% in average credit". It seems "recent average credit" is different from "average credit"

Any ideas?

Each Project makes the stats available in a file that is then downloaded by the different stats sites. Some projects make that file available every hour while others do it once per day and others do it in between those times. Going to the actual Projects page will always give you the most updated numbers.
