Do you have VirtualBox installed? Rosetta python tasks require it to be installed. (there's a lot of Python tasks available). Normal Rosetta (4.20) are not always available, it might be why you aren't receiving any. As for WCG, the migration progress will take a few months and no tasks will be distributed during that time. WCG tasks will be distributed automatically when they will be back online.

Hi to All,
My projects (Rosetta and WCG) are stopped since many days. I uninstalled Boinc and reinstalled. Is it a general problem or do I need to do something or is the "migration process" which takes so long ?

WCG says it is down for planned maintenance.

I haven't gotten any Rosetta tasks in quite a while. I also uninstalled Virtual Box because this computer is too old, limited and doesn't like it.

Then you better join up with some other projects to keep your system busy because 4.2 tasks are not that common these days.

You might try this one: https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/ or this one https://www.sidock.si/sidock/ to keep your system busy until WCG comes back or until this project produces some more 4.2 work. But that goes very fast 1-2 days at most.

Unless you have virtualization enabled and virtual box installed and your account is set to accept virtualization work, then you will have long dry spells once the normal tasks are completed.

Come over to number crunching if you wish to discuss the further (top thread [problems and technical issues] ) about getting work.

Only 2 of my 7 PCs can do Rosetta VB tasks. There's something weird about them. As 6 of my 7 PCs can do LHC VB tasks. That was also 2 of 7, but I switched off a setting in AVG antivirus which scans virtual machines, and 4 more PCs started doing LHC, but not Rosetta.

Today I got two Rosetta tasks. The first reported an "error while computing." The second is still running.

I tried to set up an account at QuChemPedIA@home, but it wouldn't let me log in.

I was doing SiDock, which is based at the Russian Academy of Science. I stopped when Russia invaded Ukraine. My little way of protesting.

I know the scientists at SiDock are not responsible for the actions of their ruler and may even be opposed to them. SiDock may not even care whether I participate or not, but there's little else I can do. I feel they should share a little of the pain, although it is nothing compared to the pain Ukrainians are feeling.

I will set up an account at https://gene.disi.unitn.it/wordpress/

Thanks.

You make me sick. You stop work for a SLOVENIAN SCIENCE group because a RUSSIAN POLITICIAN does something you don't like. Grow up.

This war amuses me. Russia blows stuff up, and the rest of the world says "you're really really naughty and I won't trade with you any more". That is why he will win. He still knows how to fight.

I'd try to get used to that Peter. People are free to join projects, and just as free to leave them. How that makes YOU feel is not really going to be a concern.

Leaving them due to personal feelings for Putin is pathetic. Science has nothing to do with politics, and anyone who thinks so is not worthy of living on the same planet as me.

Your nuts, you protest a science project that has nothing to do with the current leader of their country which I am sure they would like to get rid of, so your going to hurt them in your protest? How self centered is that?
Be a human and put your computer back on the project and help the scientists achieve their goal before something happens to them in the name of politics or retaliation.

He will fight just like a certain ex president. In fact that person probably got a few tips from Vlad.
Just keep shelling the hell out of the people and they will give in.
Worked in other countries they were in, will work again.
Cut them off financially and they can't fix or make anything anymore.
Out of missiles and bullets and maybe it stops.

There is down time for a few months while they install their gear at the new place and get things running again. Just wait for the news via email or twitter when they are back up.

Except Russia is a huge country with lots of resources, they can sustain themselves. By stopping trade we hurt ourselves more. They used to ship out a tonne of gas. Look at the fuel prices rising in the whole world....

You are amused by attacks on innocent civilians, the destruction of whole cities and the deaths of thousands of people, including children, for no reason at all? And I make YOU sick?

According to the BOINC projects page, Si-Dock is based at Russian Academy of Science and is not Slovenian. At one time, it had a cooperative arrangement with Finland, but that appears to have changed. If it were Slovenian or Finnish, I would still participate in it.
Russia blows stuff up, and the rest of the world says "you're really really naughty and I won't trade with you any more"
Putin is not "just blowing stuff up." He's blowing men, women and children up. He did more than something I don't like. He bombed a maternity hospital with patients in it. That's more than just "naughty." It's a war crime. And if my futile protest makes you sick, too bad.

I won't apologize, even if you think I am one of those politically minded fools. I prefer to think of myself as one of those compassion-minded fools.

Your childish editing of my post only serves to make you look stupid. Put back in the next sentence which was what was amusing me.

According to the BOINC projects page, Si-Dock is based at Russian Academy of Science and is not Slovenian. At one time, it had a cooperative arrangement with Finland, but that appears to have changed. If it were Slovenian or Finnish, I would still participate in it.
Not what I'd heard by conversing in their forum. Two Slovenian scientists and two Russian scientists in a Slovenian place.

Putin is not "just blowing stuff up." He's blowing men, women and children up. He did more than something I don't like. He bombed a maternity hospital with patients in it. That's more than just "naughty." It's a war crime. And if my futile protest makes you sick by, too bad.
He's waging a proper war, while the west "fights" with sanctions.

I won't apologize, even if you think I am one of those politically minded fools. I prefer to think of myself as one of those compassion-minded fools.
Your feelings on the war are nothing to do with the scientists. So these scientists are the ones bombing the Ukraine are they?
