If they have posted, officially, that they are linux only, well, fair enough. I simply drop the project from my systems.

Last try to help you clarifying this:
On which page does LHC@home state they do only have Linux applications?
I already posted a link that clearly shows they also have Windows applications (and Apple ...) - and there are lots of volunteers running them.

I have been running both Linux and Windows applications in LHC@home.Even if using Linux you must use VirtualBox. There are "native" Linux applications but you have to build them yourself, by using Debian Linux. Since I am using SuSE Linux I cannot build them. I have been running Test4Theory@home at LHC in 2010, using Linux, and got a letter of thanks from Ben Segal. Now I am using Windows.

That's wrong.
You stated yourself:

Debian is not a prerequisite.
CERN (and many associated data centres) is running CentOS on many 1000 machines.
Like you I'm using OpenSuse Tumbleweed where LHC native apps are running fine.

If you read the thread, I have never said that they do not have Windows apps. I KNOW they do, I have a considerable amount of credit from the project having run it for a very long time. I queried my inability to get any work, and was informed by a moderator, Les Bayliss, that the project was, at this time at least, Linux only. Earlier in the thread, I had posted an exact cut and paste, of what was said.

What I don't know is why you are talking about LHC.

As I have said, quite clearly in the thread, is that I would detatch my systems from their project, at least for the time being. Something I had already done.

I've not had any work from LHC for a long time. It says it is pretty much Linux specific now.

I see only Instructions to build native applications in LHC@home message boards using Debian Linux. I am running SuSE Tumbleweed in Einstein@home and QuChemPedIA@home. But I see a wrapper runniing in the last case.

That's because the volunteer who wrote the HowTo did it on Debian, but the steps he described can also be done on other Linux systems.
