I have 2 work units that are both now unable to upload for a few days. Is anybody else having a problem. Anybody know what an upload error 500 is?

Temporarily failed upload of 1bmbA_abrelax_00956_0_1: error 500

See this link

You can just abort those WU's.

The Wiki is your friend ... :)

Seriously, almost ALL of the common error messages are there already. I have hundreds of rare beasts to track down, and i have a couple hundred log files I know has some other new ones. But, what I lack is the time ... :(

The good news, is that, content, including messages, and improved understanding of the causes of the errors, as I learn about it, we capture that knowledge.

Even better, I got in almost a full days work for a change. You can look in the recent changes to see what we have been doing for the last little bit. On really good days, I get as many as 10 new pages and a total of 75 edits.

Average days are down in the 4-6 new pages and 25-50 edits. It also depends on how much work I have to do. This last week I have been making a "push" for example, to get the last of the information I wrote down about the Web Pages.

I had asked to get a "Help" link added to the web page, but, alas, not yet ... but I am digressing...

Thanks for the info on the error 500. The odd part is that sounds temporary. I have been getting those on this project for a few days.

I, too have been getting this message. This has been going on now for two days. Although the link in this thread is very useful in explaining what the message means... how does one fix it???

The Rosetta Site has been really slow off & on for the last 2 days or so. I have Broadband & still it's like pulling Teeth sometimes to even connect myself or Navigate around the Forum ...

I've notice this too. One moment the site running at a "normal" responsive speed, and then it just stalls.

I am becoming more and more convinced there is something majorly "wrong" on the U.S. West Coast, inside some ISP or set of ISPs, or in communications between them. The problems seem to "migrate around"; they first appeared at SETI, now seem to be alternating between Predictor and Rosetta, every once in a while reaching out to hit Einstein (but less "regular" there, not being _on_ the West Coast)... and it's both web and scheduler servers, major slowdowns or 500 errors. CPDN (in the UK) I haven't had a problem with at all.

I'm also seeing slowdowns at other sites I know are "out that direction" - such as Apple. And believe me, Apple has massive server capacity and bandwidth!

One cause of the "500" errors at least has been identified and a fix made available for future BOINC versions. See this on SETI and the referred thread on Einstein.

Please note this is only _one_ of the causes of "500" problems... so downgrading to 4.45 will _not_ solve it for everyone. "500" is the "pass-through" error; if anything happens that BOINC doesn't understand, it throws a '500' at you.

Aha! Pass-through! Sounds more like a network/firewall issue. Are the clients using passive FTP to transfer the data?

I'm definitely seeing some network congestion and routing errors today. Perhaps it's the wet weather on the west coast, perhaps it's still issues with the campus network. In either case, be prepared for a struggle sending, receiving, and reporting work for a while.

Well the last set of problems on this (13 I think) gave me 4 ghost WU's which I now have to wait to get out of my system. I hope this does not give me more!
