I have all my machines set to "Use network only between the hours of" 00:00 thru 08:00, no problem upto now.

When I'm in Boincmgr and highlight the running thread and hit the "Show Graphics" button my network springs to life and uploads all the waiting WUs

What gives ?

Cheers

Your computers are hidden so i am only guessing that you have upgraded to BOINC 5.4.9. If so, that version makes a connection to the network when the graphics are run for any project. This is not a Rosetta issue but something added to BOINC. I do not know why it is there, or what it does

In the past, when you upgraded boinc version and used the screensaver, the firewall software wouldn't know there was a change in the software to prompt the user with the "allow access/deny access" option until the screensaver actually started. It was this action that was causing some lockups. By placing an RPC into it, the firewall software saw it and prompted users for permission at the time of boinc install. Perhaps you noticed that? Anyway, it has cut down on screensaver lock ups, and having to reboot or press cntrl-alt-del to clear it. I'm not sure it's supposed to over ride network setting to actually upload/download results though. this might be a bug, we'll just have to keep our eyes out for more reports of this.

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone else want to try this and see if it's just me ?
