The "Create account" step is no longer needed already since Boinc 5.2 was released. |

How does this paragraph end in the printed form? The project now has participants from around the world, but the earliest donor of idle computer time came from across campus at the university's Housing and Food Services, where . where space period seems like a strange end to a paragraph. |

Didn't Google stop sign ups on Google Compute, some time ago? And that was for Folding@Home, not Rosetta. "Thank you for your interest in Google Compute. The latest versions of the Google Toolbar do not support the Google Compute feature. If you would like to support the Folding@home project, please download the official Folding@home client." |

Didn't Google stop sign ups on Google Compute, some time ago? Yes indeed. GoogleToolBar/GoogleDC doesn't offer any DC project anymore, although older GTB version still run the old Tinker core of F@H. I think the reference to GoogleCompute might be due to my mentioning it Donna's request for feedback thread here: "Back in Dec05, I had been running GoogleCompute (via GoogleToolBar) on my PCs for about 2yr, but I never actually looked into the details. GoogleDC was supposed to donate the computer's idle time to various worthy causes. As the recent GoogleToolbar versions didn't support the DC feature anymore, but I wanted to contribute my PCs' idle time to worthy causes, rather than just jumping on the "default" project, I tried to educate myself about the various projects available." The extra step (first register at project's site, wait for email and THEN input this info into BOINCmgr) is indeed redundant. I've written about this many times. Thank you for the complete article, Donna. :) Have you considered testing out the program on your computer(s), to see how easy it is to setup, and remove the stigma of having Rosetta claiming you're a Zero (according to credit score and RAC)? /e ducks. :) |

The older version is still running on 6,774 computers (active CPUs within 50 days). http://toolbar.google.com/dc/offerdc.html In their FAQ (see link), I laughed when I saw question 9 "I already get enough protein in my diet... why should I care?" Now the article is gone national. See here for yourself: I think our wildest dreams have just come true. Hopefully the major networks and largest newspapers will run stories as well. I sent an email a few days ago to the O'reilly factor asking them to do a segment since that show often gets into good causes and such. I was just thinking that if a bunch of us sent notes to them from the foxnews web site, they might just decide to run the story. After all, what better cause to join than one with national health care implications, as well as national security if we are ever attacked with a biological weapon for which there might not be a cure as of yet. Look folks, so the argument would go, we need this important data for bioscience to bring cures quicker to the marketplace. Head for the foxnews website and mention this in your emails! Big help over at CNN, atleast a couple hundred thousand pass thru's a day... Yes, it's great for publicity, but if you look closer you'll see that many media (republishing Donna's article for AP), incl.
