I am French so Excuse my poor English. I will first congratulate all of the Team of Rosetta for this work, it's amasing that we can do today all together !!! I have just one little question, i used simultanely Ralph and Rosetta and i want to know if the result of the ralph workUnit are used in Rosetta or if the workunit is recalculate after ... Thanks for your reponse. Maxxou59-Lille-France Maxxou59-Lille-France Student at University of Chemistry |

I had asked the same question (in order to decide my BOINC % share) and the answer was: RALPH is used just for testing new versions of the Rosetta science executable and also test new workunits. RALPH often doesn't have any workunits, even for weeks. All the actual "production" research is done in Rosetta@home. So, if you're asking in order to decide on BOINC resource share for your PC, I'd use a small one for RALPH (e.g. 5% BOINC share) and the rest for Rosetta (95% BOINC share). G'day Maxxou59 I believe Ralph workunits that "return without error" are used by Rosetta as-is (without recalculation). |

The most important feature of Ralph is testing out new features of the Rosetta client, and to help identify problems with the Rosetta client so they can be fixed. (i.e. if you have lots of problems with Rosetta, PLEASE join Ralph so the error appears there, and they can get added information that will help them cure the problem.) The errors caught by Ralph save a tremendous amount of work on the Rosetta side - so conentrate of that, instead of the small amount of work that may be lost on Ralph. Setting a small 5-10% Ralph share and 90-95% Rosetta share will insure that we catch most of the errors on the Ralph project before they become major problems on the Rosetta side. |
