I am having a problem with rosetta, it is running even when I am not running the program. It is taking up a lot of my CPU, I try uising quit, force quit, and it still restarts itself. BOINC doesn't restart itself, just rosetta. The specific process name is rosetta_5.22_pow(490) I am using OS X.4.6 on a Powerbook G4 1.5ghs, 512mb RAM, 80GB harddrive. Thanks for any help. |

I assume you have tried using the "Activity Monitor" to abort the process. If not, run the activity monitor, select the process, and force quit the application. I have seen this happen once on one of my Macs as well. It is usually caused by BOINC aborting itself and then being restarted manually. It then looses control of the application for some reason. Failing the force quit, you can of course reboot the system by holding the power button until it shuts down and then restarting. In any case you will have to restart the system to get everything organized again. After the restart, the system should run normally. Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

kernel_task runs at 20% CPU when minirosetta is running; kernel_task usually is was at under 2% running boinc_project (user). my results recently are all in error on Rossetta . I suspend rosetta@home , ,running other boinc projects, CPU for kernel_task back to normal at or under 2-1% . i did a force quit and it restarted running by itself yesterday.. i had 3 boinc_project running then after the force quit when only 2 run at the same time normally. will unsuspend projected let it conclude, if project will again be in error will abort project for awhile. ( intel mac is all up to date) |
