I am woundering, how important is L2 cache in Rosetta?

Not particularly, as far as I can tell. Running oprofile on my dual processor Opteron (Linux) machine shows very low rate of data- and instruction-cache misses.

Other interesting data:
Of 78252 retired instructions, 50965 were FPU operations - so we're doing quite a bit of floating point calculations.
