I was wondering how much Rosetta crunchers are giving to Rosetta on their hosts. Recently I switched Rosetta to 85% on all of my hosts. But just as importantly (at least I think so anyway), I crunch Predictor for the rest on two of them and Einstein for the other as backup. I crunch for Predictor as backup since it is related to the same protein bio stuff as Rosetta. Are you other Rosetta crunchers doing the same as me or is your crunching different?

Also, I keep my other crunching down to two or three projects so that at least the backup projects are not so diluted. How are you all doing your allocating?

I am fairly new, but after a brief period with SETI@home sharing time with Rosetta, I decided to switch all hosts, modest as they are, to 100% Rosetta. I have no issue with other projects or their merit; however, the Rosetta project not only appears as worthy as any, but it does also seems to be very well directed and run, and may well turn out to have the greatest impact. I don't feel a need for a backup project, since the history I've seen suggests that no backup is needed. My desire is to give Rosetta as much as I am able.

I crunched 2,000 WU's in the original SETI@Home long time ago. I got an email from the SETI project trying to get inactive folks started again and that's when I discovered BOINC and all the other projects. When I looked at this project I really liked what I saw so now it's all Rosetta, all the time.

I'm still completing a climate seasonal and regular climate WU on one of my three. Otherwise it's all Rosetta and a bit of Ralph.

I only run Rosetta now as it is the project I really have come to feel at home in.

Recent illnesses in my wife's family and an article on CNN, and here I am 100% Rosetta.

Any other project look like it is worthwile? Yes. But I am just going to stick around Rosetta for a while and see where it goes.

IMHO any project dealing with biological problems and/or searching for cures is a worthwhile project. Similar projects are:

Predictor@home
Worldcommunitygrid
Folding@home

During CASP, I have at least 50% up to 66% on each of my machines crunching Rosetta. The rest is mostly SIMAP, MCDN and Predictor, although I run CPDN at 25% on one. Einstein, Seti, QMC and uF run at low quotas around my cluster.

Outside of CASP, Rosetta is lower and more level with the other biological projects, although Rosetta is my current favourite biological - at least while the level of involvement with the team continues.

I've got 3 computers, all running only Rosetta. Two are 24-7 crunchers, at the moment, and the other crunches when possible (I only suspend it when I'm REALLY working the processor.).

I'd have more, but the rest of my computers are too old (pre-OS X Macs, a 386, a 486, and a Commodore 64). As it is, I'm running one 266 MHz computer, already.

I really believe in this project and its potential. The friendly moderators and admins make me feel welcome and like even my three low-end computers are making a difference. Besides, when winter rolls around, my computers do a great job of heating my room!

2 machines are fully dedicated to Rosi (I like that!), after one of them completing phase 3 of the now obsolete sulphur models at CPDN - I thought it's more worthy to help here.
Nevertheless, my laptop is crunching a CDPN and a SAP model. My 4th machine is also dedicated to CPDN, but while CASP7 it gets 50%.

Anyway: I wonder, if the total computer power for Rosi will fall (dramatically) AFTER CASP7. I think still a lot of people are giving more ressource share to Rosi just because of CASP7 - Although I would appreciate a rise of the total computer power at the end to Rosi... ;-)

1 old laptop (645MHz) will be running 24/7 when I get around to setting it up.
1 my work computer (2.4 GHz P4) runs 24/7.
3 family computers run rosetta when not in use.

Total: 8 computers, 100% rosetta

90% rosetta / 10% einstein for me, sometimes a little ralph on my main pc beside that, all other projects i am inactive.

100% Rosetta :) Earlier on Seti (85000 credits) and very very short on Predictor (426 credits) and ClimatePrediction (120 credits).. Now I am only Rosetta cruncher!


edit- and of course rosseta is 24/7 on my comp. :)
