where the server would accept an overdue result. ...I wish the library would do that the books that I have that are past due :) Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |

You can set your General Preference to tell BOINC you only connect to network every 7 days, download up to 99 WUs in a single day, they'll all be due 7 days hence, suspend network access, then crunch 'em and report 'em and abort any excess that would miss the deadline away. No, you set your general preferences to tell BOINC that you plan to connect once a week. BOINC will connect whenever it has the chance. BOINC WIKI |

where the server would accept an overdue result. They do not have a fireplace for overdue books though ;-) The idea is just to tell make the BOINC client try harder to get the results done in time, because it "thinks" that their deadline is one day shorter. |

Why did the project not send out a newsletter for this special situation? I know that there have been some "Opt-In" / "Opt-Out" discussions about the option to receive or not to receive the newsletter - but I wouldn't mind to receive a notice about such a special situation in my mailbox, that's why my newsletter option is enabled. I talked to some who didn't know about it yet - not everyone visits the homepage of all projects everyday, I had read it in a team forum and not on the homepage here either. Still several days left so it still could notify some crunchers who didn't read it anywhere yet. |

I got an e-mail from Rosetta about CASP - I think it was at the end of may? Reminded me that I hadn't installed BOINC after formatting... oops! |

I received this email about casp on May 10th From: please-do-not-reply@boinc.bakerlab.org Date: 2006/05/10 Wed AM 02:45:49 CDT To: xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.com Subject: A letter to Rosetta@home crunchers -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Rosetta@home Participants, A wonderful aspect of Rosetta@home for me has been the marvelous contributions of the many dedicated volunteers around the world. We are about to begin the 7th biennial CASP Structure Prediction Experiment and from May 10th until August 1st our need for computing power will be even greater. In a bid to solicit more of your 'crunching time', R@H volunteers have put together the following letter which we are sending to all participants. With all of your collective efforts it should be possible to do wonders! Thank you! David Baker Big snip of the rest of it |
