Basic philosophy behind "at home" distributed computing is to harness the leftover computing power of a general single computer that is used mainly for other purposes, be it gaming, browsing, work related, what ever... If a person wants to donate more than that and hook up multiple computers that crunch 24 hours a day, feel free to do so, but do not dare to demand any special treatment from the project team in return because of that.

My philosophy is simple...

You obviously have strongly held views, I do not want to discuss my personal viewpoint on it, the post is challenging someone to counter what you have written.

Knowing the history of the last few days, weeks, months you know as well as I that any thread on this subject will most likely veer off your intended topic into a "them and us" situation again.

My question is, was it a well intended post or flamebait ? Not that I`m accussing you of either!

Ok lets see if this can express my views on what has to be the lattest attempt to start a flame war.

Is that enough. Man you are lucky people are starting to id the flamers and are ignoring them.

Sounds like someone came from SETI.

That was the standard retort from the SETI@HOME folks when participants complained that their purchased crunching farms were idle from no work.

Paraphrased: "We didn't ask you to buy all that spiffy new hardware to run our project"
Nemesis n. A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent.
