Maddog I managed to repost your original question here. I wanted to make your EMail address more obscure so you don't attract a bunch of SPAM.

Hey there, im running rosetta at a few mounths, but i have lost my account key, i now i need her to run rosetta again in my PC, and i have allready ask for her and appear this:

-Your Account Key has been emailed to madog 333zzz at hotmailzzz.comzzz.
If the email doesn't arrive in a few minutes, your ISP may be blocking it as spam. In this case please contact your ISP and ask them to not block email from Rosetta/BOINC Admin .

I dont have any problem whit my isp our something like that, but i never recieve my key, and i have allready thryed many times.

What is the problem ?
i creat another mail and everything is fine, so my msn its god, wy i dont recived my account key ?

I think you can attach to the project using the email address you used to make your account and your password. Have you tried that? (It's been a little while, for me, but I think you can do that...)

Edit: There have been some other users having problems with Hotmail, as well. If it works fine with another email account, there must be some issue with Hotmail...

You logged in to get here (I think) and post. Go to "your account" then create a password if you haven't already done so. Then when you try to attach, use "use existing account" and enter your email and password.

I think there is a problem with Hotmail and Rosetta /Boinc....
Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-)

Go to "your account" and click on "password" (6th row from above). There you can change your password.

Let me recapitulate what I understand your problem is:

You've got an account, but acn't reach it.
You've created a new one to post here (and while you're at it, crunch some WUs).

You want to either:
a) get hold of your old account again or
b) get the new one attached to your real email

Solution for a:
Log out, try to log in again and ask for the password to be send again.
Detach this account from BOINC and reattach the old one

Solution to b:
Log out, try to log in again and ask for the password to be send again.
Log in with the data and change the email to me@there.com
Log out again
Log in with the data of this account and change email.

If I didn't understand you rught, sorry ;)

I can't add anything to solving his problem, but hotmail stinks.

I've found that it'll eat messages for no good reason.

For example, I get two daily emails. Things will be going along swimmingly, and then for no apparent reason I won't get them for a few days.

The missing messages never show up.

I know they are getting sent because when I started having the problem I subscribed using a gmail account and got them there ok.

I tested some things with a hotmail account.

from: Apache <apache@boinc.bakerlab.org>
subject: Rosetta@home account email change
shows up in less than a minute in the Junk folder on Hotmail.

from: Rosetta/BOINC Admin <admin@boinc.bakerlab.org>
subject: Rosetta@home forum moderation notice for Rosetta_User_Name
shows up in less than a minute in the junk folder on Hotmail.

from: Rosetta/BOINC Admin <admin@boinc.bakerlab.org>
subject: Rosetta@home information for Rosetta_User_Name
for account key. Shows up in less than a minute on my normal email.
Both times I sent the account key to the hotmail address after the other two messages arrived, it didn't show up on Hotmail.

Getting the account key on hotmail seems impossible at the moment. Can we get this passed on to the staff?

Getting the account key on hotmail seems impossible at the moment. Can we get this passed on to the staff?


This should be passed on to Hotmail, I don't know what bakerlab can do about it.

Best thing would probably to get a bunch of hotmail users to report the junk-mails as good mails to hotmail.

I believe I've found the account key. It is stored (at least on Windows) in this file:
C:Program FilesBOINCaccount_boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta.xml
Open it with internet explorer, just three lines down in the file you will see your account key nested between the <authenticator> </authenticator> tags. It's about 32 characters long.

Hotmail obviously marks the mail as Junk. So ask for the key to be sent by email again and then check your junk folder (make sure you have not selected to delete junk immediately if that is an option at hotmail).

Hotmail does NOT alway`s recognise as junk, it simply does NOT get through to it, I had the same with mod emails !
Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-)

New idea then!

1) Go to projects tab, select Rosetta, click "no new tasks" button.
2) Work through your current WUs, report them back, update to project, no Rosetta WUs appear in your tasks tab anymore.
3) Detach from Rosetta (done on projects tab)
4) Attach to Rosetta (done via "tools" pulldown menu), and use the EMail address of the account you wish to be using. Once attached, the key will reside in the file described by Mod.Sense below.
Add this signature to your EMail:
Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might!

Two times I requested the account key be sent to my hotmail account - and they're nowhere to be seen 12 hours later.

I asked a mod to delete an email, and the forum moderation notice message appeared in the Junk mail as I refreshed the hotmail page to see if the expected message had arrived. The notice appeared in the Junk folder, but the account key had not shown up. Requesting the account key a second time for my hotmail account, and it didn't appear.

Moved my account back to my normal email, and requested the account key and it showed up quickly.

Hotmail definately has problems with the account key messages. It lets forum moderation notices through (at least some) and that's the same admin@boinc address.

It would be possible, but how do they know (really know) that it is really you that is requesting the key.
