Seems like an admin should be able to send the account key using a personal email address to the address tied to the account. This way there wouldn't be an issue of determining identity and the email shouldn't be blocked by hotmail. |

I forwarded 5 copies of the account key message from my normal email to my hotmail account. All 5 showed up. The subject line was identical to what I'd been sent; the content was the same. So it doesn't seem like Hotmail is blocking the messages due to possible phishing attacks due to the subject or content of the messages. The email change message appears quickly on hotmail.. none of the 5 account key requests have shown up. It took about 3 mins for the forwarded ones to show up. I find it strange that there's a 100% delivery failure rate for Account Key messages but only when they're sent from the BakerLabs.. |

I just got a response from a Hotmail tech. He wanted me to go to Options/Mail/Junk mail/ verify "admin@boinc.bakerlab.org" was not in the banned list, and that it was in the Safe List. It wasn't in my banned list; but it was in my safe list. Perhaps that'll give some others something to check. His next option for the problem was to blame Rosetta. Is there a special rule on the Rosetta email server that deals with sending account keys to hotmail accounts? Back to waiting on hold on tech support for a client.. |

Maybe it would help to reinstall the link https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/create_account_form.php I am not using many pre-5.0 BOINC clients anymore but nevertheless I prefer that form over signing up through the BOINC client. There are some advantages : - I can join from anywhere, not just from a place where I can read my emails (I do not use and will not use any online mailreader) - I have my account key handy immediately without checking my email. It's in the browser cookies :-) - I do not have to use a password - I bet most people use the same email/password across all projects, if one gets hacked or is not a serious project, someone can access all project accounts with that. - I can check the default project settings before I attach any host, which avoids messy downloads in some cases, caused by a changed venue Afterall it does not hurt to have both ways to attach. |

Is there a special rule on the Rosetta email server that deals with sending account keys to hotmail accounts? Maybe YOU should get on the phone with Yahoo and get it figured out. What a concept. Nemesis n. A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. |

Maybe YOU should get on the phone with Yahoo and get it figured out. I think what Nemesis was trying to say Keith was something like... What happens to any delivery failures? Are they logged on the Rosetta server? If so have the logs been checked for the accounts having problems receiving EMails? Would it be possible to trace the line briefly to try and determine which end is having the problem? Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |
