Tank I did see somewhere you could connect it to another machine.I'd be lying if I could tell ya where I've seen it.But I did see that somewhere.I think it was on a nix box with the manager.I've done so much trying out different things the last three days that I'm getting brain dead. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/download_network.php Download BOINC add-on software |

hi pibby! if you and pphalan want to get on yahoo sometime tomorrow i will help you get it installed and setup. I have it running and I think he has it running now too. Now the long process of getting all the other machines going on it too. What a pain, not all my monsters are in the same place or easy to get to. |

Pphalan, it isn't a long process on the others. Your General Preferences will apply to other machines if you want the to do so. Otherwise, you can set different preferences for Home, Office, or School. Another thing. There is an area for questions/problems. I haven't posted there yet and I certainly haven't read all of the posts. Now I know why new members seldom read my sticky at FaD. It easy to get overwhelmed. I believe there is plenty of information here, but it will take a few more days to "click around" and get the picture. _____________________________________ I am glad to see so many of you from Find-a-Drug! Hob has proposed a Find-a-Drug team. I couldn't find it in the list of teams last night. Here's the rub. How many are willing to encourage their team members to join the Find-a-Drug team and give up their current team identity? See, not all XPC members, for instance, ever crunched at Find-a-Drug, and they would be reluctant to give up their XPC identity. Likewise, XPC members who crunched at Find-a-Drug will be reluctant to leave old friends. Now, if we could get the Team None members to join the Find-a-Drug team, then we could rule the world. If my mates at XPC would forgive me, I would join the Find-a-Drug team. It is a difficult choice. I'm on my second team already this week. |

then which one are you going to join? hob has started one and nec is saying the same thing. Nec has actually de-digitated and started a team called the FaDBeens, 629. |

Morning all Vester my upload and download is set to unlimited by default which i feel should work fine since my download runs between 2.2kb and 3.5kb. I think since Rosetta is running on my client(which firewall is turned off) im gona try and turn off firewall on my host and see what happens. Vester do you think id be better off downloading an older version of Boinc. I just got up since i was playing with this till 3 in the morning. Visit us at Christianboards.org |

Vester do you think id be better off downloading an older version of Boinc. I have no basis for an opinion on earlier versions. I always run the latest. You should not have to turn off your firewall. The client uses ports 1043 and 2156. With dial-up, you will want the client to hang up after downloading/uploading. The setting is in General Preferences. You will have to be setup for auto-dialing on your computer. Is this a dedicated phone line? If not, you don't want it calling while you are on the phone. |

Your best off sticking with version 5.2.5 or 5.2.6 they are the most upto date and have many bugs ironed out on them. I hope the refugees are having fun getting used to BOINC its easy enough to work more or less just set and forget it, and don't forget if this project is ever down and you have no work there are plenty of other projects to work on whilst waiting for it to come back on line good luck you all Join us in Chat (see the forum) Click the Sig Join UBT |

Vester do you think id be better off downloading an older version of Boinc. Vester im not using the server in Win XP im using Analog proxy and my port(1080) settings are differant. I was running 2 firewalls the XP firewall and and PC-cellin firewall shut both down and its downloading job now at well they call it throughput at 2335 bytes/sec. It looks like in the messages that it downloaded 1 jod finished and now downloaading the same job again but it is downloading looks like its gona take a while. I dont have a dedicated phone line and have connect and diconnect automatical set to no. Just how big are these job downloads?? mines at 12 MB disk space now and still downloading. Ok seems to be running now on 1 computer the 1 thing i will add to all this is with dial-up service it took about 2 hours of TOTAL download time for program and job to download. Now if every job is gona take that long its gona be very demamnding for dial-up or will the downloads be smaller from here on it ?? guess we'll just have to wait and see. Im on dial up at the moment until i move house and it takes about 20-25mins to download 4-5 WU's on my dial up connection, but I know they are making the WU's bigger to make them last longer Join us in Chat (see the forum) Click the Sig Join UBT |

How evil??? As suggested, start a new thread and find out for yourself :P These forums already have some highly motivated and well trained troll spotters and hunters aboard, so watch out :) |

Pphalan, it isn't a long process on the others. Your General Preferences will apply to other machines if you want the to do so. Otherwise, you can set different preferences for Home, Office, or School. If we were to do a Super Team under FAD and then all of us on each team from FAD were to register under our team names it could be an interesting effect. Wonder what our rating would be then... http://www.christianboards.org/forum.php http://usalug.org/phpBB2/index.php |
