Recently i notice that the proteins we calculate or often unconnected peaces. not attached parts i see them fragmentated as it would be like maceroni in a cup of soup.. (for example 5 peaces in parts) Ehm my understanding was that a protein is a single long strang of carbon atoms, so I wonder is it probaply a miss calculation ? the native screen still shows it a a single rope of atoms, but well all other screens dont. If a programer would like to see it. I've uploaded the picture on my myspace profile on myspace clik on my image and goto the second picture page the last picture shows it. my myspace = www.mypace.com/peter_art |

Peter, welcome to Rosetta! Yes, it seems a bit odd doesn't it? But this is normal. It is part of the science that Rosetta is using to study the proteins. By locking certain portions of the protein together, they have eliminated vast numbers of the possible orientations from the field of study. Then they look for ways that the individual pieces might fit back together. Here is Dr. Baker's original scientific description of what you are describing, and here is my attempt at a laypersons explaination of it. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |
