when i look at the visualisation/screesaver thigie, in the square between accepted energie en RMSD there is a large number of tiny blueish dots, but there is 1 red one, what dous this mean, is it like i found something?

Yep! That's the best energy and RMSD level you found on your prior model run for that task.

You can compare your results to otehr for the same target.

Start by having a look at your results by going to [Participants] (above) and clicking on the View after Reports and plots of results from active work units

It just worked for me but it seems VERY slow at the moment, but click around and there shoudl be somewhere that compares it to all the others

goto the last column and then click on the blue last updated text and wait for it to load in the latest results that have been compiled. then goto the far left column and pick any work unit list and click on it. when the plot comes up the red dots are yours and you can use the + or the - button to zoom in or out on the plot to see just how low your energy was compared to the others for that work unit.

haha after red dots i now found orange dots, and i post after using the search, but it came up empty. so anyone knows something about the magic orange dots?

i don't see orange on any of my stuff, but i got one result that shows a dark red dot with a black center dot in it. thats something different.

red dots if you read the text show your plots in relation to everyone else
the more you zoom in the lower the energy value and of course the lesser amount of dots show up. the more dots you have near the bottom left corner of the plot the better your results are for lower or lowest energy prediction for that model.

I wanted to clarify here. There are two places (at least) you might see red dots on a chart. One is on the Rosetta@home website (from the homepage, click the link for "Results" under the "returning participants" section of links). This shows how your recent completed tasks compare to those of other volunteers. This is what greg_be was referring to.

Luuklag's original question was regarding the graphic shown while crunching a task. This is the second place you can see red dots. These represent your own predictions your machine has created for this task. If you look at the model shown at the lower right, this indicates the number of the model you are currently working on. After you've completed a few, once the scale of the graphic for your current model scales in to the right energy levels, you will see red dots indicating your prior models for this task. Once the task reports in, then it will become available on the website for comparision with other tasks you may have completed for the same batch of work, and with the results of others that have done tasks from the same batch (as described above).

whats the orange dots hes talking about?
i have never seen those in either the results or in the graphics.

in the results when on default "viewing level" and you see a red dot with a black center, what is that? if i zoom in one level then that dot breaks into 2 closely spaced normal red dots. so does the black indicate overlapping plots at the zoom level you are on?

i guess i found it, it should have been my display settings, it just was a red dot, but my monitor was showing it in a wierd orange like color, just red without darkness ;) if u get wat i meen :P
