In my message board preferences I have "Least recent reply first", (why they can't say "oldest" escapes me!), 100 for the posts count and 75 for the "only display the first one and this many of the last ones", (they mean newest of course!).

That's correct. The only thing making this thread "odd" is that is has more then 75 posts in it. You have to look really close for that little msg about how there are more msgs to display.

That can't be correct! What use is showing the 75 oldest messages and the newest? The newest post is far more likely to be relevent to the other recent posts than a post made a year ago.

I see. My apologies, I hadn't thought through all the ordering.

This would be a BOINC problem to report to their trac system.

...until they provide a fix, you may find the other ordering more helpful anyway. By showing most recent first, it means you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the newest posts.

Yes, I figured it was an ordering problem. However, very many net forum packages default to the "oldest at the top and getting newer as you scroll down" and I am used to it being that way round. It seems far more natural for me to start at the top of the screen and read downwards rather then having to scroll down a bit, read a post, then read the one above it, then the one above that etc.

I'll open a Trac if I can't find one already.

Just to follow up, DA has acknowledged the fault and it is under discussion on the BOINC dev mail list.
