The Blue Man Group does that now too! I went to see them in Las Vegas one time and they were EXCELLENT! No but the impetus was the group 'The Platters', the group being advertised as 'The Platters' had no one who had been in the original group nor were they ever associated with the group, but they play the groups original songs. They also demanded and got tons of money based on the groups name. Lots of people got mad when they showed up and they were just a bunch of people playing music from an old time group! It would be like you or I showing up, assuming either of us could play and sing because I certainly can't, and calling ourselves 'The Beatles' and playing Beatles songs, or the Monkeys and playing their songs. I know lots of groups play other groups songs, but they don't go around calling themselves the original group. The only difference in my examples and what 'The Platters' were doing, is that all the ORIGINAL Platters are now dead! So maybe Roy Rogers would be more appropriate? How about Hank Williams?
