As one relatively new to BOINC, I'm hoping that there is some way to increase the useful time for my computer. There seems to be a large amount of valid time that is not utilized: I just checked my machine, and while 'boinc' was listed as a process, it was completely inactive. When I attempted to restart it, part of the message was: "Deferring communication with project for 21 hours, 49 minutes, and 58 seconds". What? Why?

...running Debian/Linux 2.6.12 on AMD X2.

In the Work tab, select the project and hit Update. In the Messages tab, BEFORE the "deferring communication" message, there will be an error message that will explain the problem. "Deferring communication" is the reaction to the error. Also, it starts with a 1-minute delay - it only builds up to 21 hours after a LOT of retrys.
