Hello. I recently switched from Ubuntu 32bit to 64bit. I noticed that my work unit tends to claim more credits than the amount granted in 64bit. In 32bit, it's the reverse. See https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=946446 The results above 208027161/189692600 (the one that errored out) are computed in 64bit; the ones below are 32bit. I'm not experiencing problems, I'm simply curious. Is there any particular reason for this? |

The credit granted is based on the average of all the others that worked on the same protein. The claim is based upon the results of the BOINC benchmarks running on your machine. Since your machine change could not effect everyone else, I take the granted number to be the frame to compare against. And so I conclude that BOINC's benchmark produces different (higher) results on a 64bit machine. Having said that, there can be a fair amount of variation from one task to the next as well. So perhaps the difference is less on future tasks that you complete. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
