Greetings! I've been a BOINCer for years, and have recently racked up 1 million credits on Rosetta@home. On Saturday I took delivery of a new laptop, a hyperthreaded quad core with 8 GB RAM, running Windows 7 x64 SP1. I installed the latest BOINC client and connected to Rosetta. The machine downloaded plenty of work (it runs eight tasks at a time) and began to crunch.

Every single task this new laptop crunches is reported as "client error". The following link shows the work units assigned to the laptop. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=1442132

And the following is an example of a task that has "run to completion" in about three hours, but for which no credit has been granted because of "client error". https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=421283678

I really don't know what to make of this. Does anybody have any insight into this? I could disconnect, uninstall/reinstall BOINC, and reconnect, but I first wanted to see if anybody could diagnose the problem before I try that.

BTW, my other laptop has been crunching for 2.5 years and is munching happily on work units downloaded at a similar time. They complete successfully.

Not sure what the problem might be, but you are getting credit for the effort. Rosetta has a special credit granting script that locates such ill-fated tasks and grants credits. For reasons I do not personally understand, such credits are only shown on the task details page.

It looks like you are successfully completing and reporting completed models. Several of the task names that had the problem are new approaches to studying proteins, and so perhaps there are some quirks to work through here.

Since you just loaded everything, I do not feel detaching and reattaching is likely to improve the situation. Your machine will be on to other types of tasks soon, and that will likely then run as normal. If problems persist, please post to the v2.17 thread, or the problems and technical issues with thread on the Number Crunching board.
