Hi The error given against your failed tasks is: <core_client_version>6.12.33</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> WU download error: couldn't get input files: <file_xfer_error> <file_name>T0700_ab_hybrid_relax_ab_hybrid_relax_quota.zip</file_name> <error_code>-197</error_code> <error_message>user requested transfer abort</error_message> </file_xfer_error> </message> ]]> My guess would be that it's your AV (or standalone firewall?) interrupting the download... What anti-virus software are you using? |

Hi dcdc, I use AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012 (have been using them for years). I used to use ZoneAlarm firewall, but when the new version was combined with their own Anti-virus program my AOL Version 9.1 completely failed to work; so got rid of ZA. Am now using the Windows Vista Home Premium Firewall. Tried the new Boinc upgrade, but everything went wrong. Hope you can help; Many thanks. IM |

Ok, here's my understanding: You were getting errors while using the 6.12.33 BOINC client, and then you upgraded BOINC, presumably to 7.0.25? BOINC 7.0.25 doesn't work properly with R@H, but 7.0.28 is now release version again (in the last 24 hrs I think), having been pulled previously. Therefore my suggestion would be to upgrade to 7.0.28 if you were using 7.0.25, and then to re-attach to the project if that doesn't work. I can't imagine that a standard installation of AVG is responsible as I think we'd be flooded with posts given the popularity of that AV. Danny |

What version are you now using? The last reported tasks I see in your list are 6.12.34. I you didn't upgrade to v7, better don't or if you want to try it (according to some threads here not recommended), backup your data directory, otherwise you will not be able to downgrade to v6 easily, if you need to. If you are on v7: if that still doesn't work, I'd suggest to downgrade again to v6.12.34 (make sure you don't have any tasks left before that). Depending on what other projects you run and what they need and of course which functions of BOINC you need, even a downgrade to 6.10.18 might be recommended (that's my favourite version, use that where I don't need the backup project functionality). I case of BOINC new is not always better, at least that's my experience. If you think it's your AV, that's causing the problems, exclude BOINC data directory from scanning and see if it helps. Another thing you might want to try is to allow computing "while processor usage is less than 0 percent" (for versions 6.12.34 and up, not needed for 6.10.18). That way BOINC won't be suspending the work just because some other program is using half of a core of your C2D, which happens quite often as you see in the log. That should improve your throughput a lot. . |
