F-Secure has once more updated their firewall software. The previous workaround for BOINC to work normal is no longer working. I have ready WU's (seems to upload with this version, was not with the previous one) but won't send home.
The only thing that work is to de-install F-Secure. I've got it with my ISP subscription.
So until I have bought another firewall program I'm not able to crunch, sniff.

Does many have good experience with other firewalls?
Greetings,
TJ.

I don't know why anyone (outside of business users) pays for AV software - I tend to use either Avast or MS Security Essentials but many people recommend AVG. Have a look at a couple of reviews - the free ones tend to do well as they're funded by the business users (and some residential users) who pay, and having the large pool of free users helps them to collect data on viruses in the wild so they can improve their definitions which in return helps their paying users too.

Yes. But I'd not recommend AVG anymore, it was good few years ago, than it got a bit too slow for my taste. MSE and Avast are good, MSE just needs more RAM than Avast. On Avast you can also choose which modules to install, which can further improve the performance and if you disable the startup of the GUI, all it needs is <10MB RAM.

As to firewall, use the Windows Firewall, it's same good as any other software firewall, but causes usually a lot less problems than most other software firewalls. If you think you need a real firewall, you'll have to invest in hardware.
