Is anyone actually actively investigating the issues with nvidia drivers & cards at the moment, or (as it seems from the forums) is it falling to the community to find the problem in the UoW's Rosetta applications? Yeah and gaming, 3d, hardware decoding, stability etc etc are fine. I don't think anyone is suggesting it's the driver's problem, but that something isn't working/playing well with the driver. You can see above in this same thread where DK is actively working this issue. This isn't a help desk trouble ticket forum. We're exchanging ideas on the problem and trying to provide data to help him solve it. |

Also, there may be a lot of errors because some lab members in our group are testing new jobs on Ralph (the main purpose of Ralph) so they may fail. I partecipate to Ralph since 2008, so i know what Ralph is!!! But i don't know if admins are interested in Ralph, 'cause the last admin post on forum was 300 days ago. Now the ralph site is down from 5 days..... |

Can anyone confirm that ralph does not have this issue? I really like to run couple of Ralph tasks to see how they crunch. Unfortunately Ralph is down :( About two weeks ago I tried to crunch Ralph tasks, but could not get any. So, please get Ralph up and offer couple of thousands tasks for people to try. |

Hello, I just Deleted a Reply suggesting that you may like to Consider Updating to SP2. I thought that it had been released mid 2012 because there are Pages that show that it was: However, I just double checked MS site and it says that The Latest is sp1. Sorry about that. |

Regarding All The Issues with Nvidia. Can We Possibly Do Without Nvidia? Is it really Necessary? is there something else that could Replace It? I have nvidia (Only) on This Computer which Runs Windows Vista. my HP Notebook, (as far as know), Does Not Have Nvidia, because I Do Not Have Nvidia Issues on it and I have Never Seen a Mention of Nvidia. So maybe the Problem is an Issue with Vista & Nvidia. |

Hi guys, yesterday happened something strange again ... I had to reboot my computer since I had a strange issue with scheduler - it gave Rosetta only 2 of my 4 cores. After restart again all 4 cores are used by Rosetta but I receive client errors again (see e.g. this job), although since my last post everything worked fine. Since last time I did not install new drivers or kernel, just userspace applications and updates. Last installations: root@pushkin:/home/pushkin# apt-get install libgl1-nvidia-glx libgl1-nvidia-glx-ia32 libglx-nvidia-alternatives libnvidia-compiler libnvidia-ml1 nvidia-cuda-dev nvidia-cuda-doc nvidia-cuda-gdb nvidia-cuda-toolkit nvidia-detect nvidia-glx nvidia-glx-ia32 nvidia-installer-cleanup nvidia-kernel-common nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-libopencl1 nvidia-libopencl1-ia32 nvidia-opencl-common nvidia-opencl-dev nvidia-opencl-icd nvidia-opencl-icd-ia32 nvidia-settings nvidia-smi nvidia-support nvidia-vdpau-driver nvidia-vdpau-driver-ia32 nvidia-visual-profiler nvidia-xconfig - reinstallation of nVidia drivers, done before last post, after that everything worked good. root@pushkin:/home/pushkin# apt-get install kde-icons-mono kdeartwork-style kdeartwork-theme-icon kdeartwork-theme-window kscreensaver kscreensaver-xsavers kscreensaver-xsavers-webcollage libboost-filesystem1.49.0 libboost-iostreams1.49.0 libboost-program-options1.49.0 libboost-python1.49.0 libboost-regex1.49.0 libboost-signals1.49.0 libboost-system1.49.0 libboost-thread1.49.0 libcuda1 libmotif4 libobasis3.6-base libobasis3.6-binfilter libobasis3.6-calc libobasis3.6-core01 libobasis3.6-core02 libobasis3.6-core03 libobasis3.6-core04 libobasis3.6-core05 libobasis3.6-core06 libobasis3.6-core07 libobasis3.6-cs libobasis3.6-cs-base libobasis3.6-cs-calc libobasis3.6-cs-help libobasis3.6-cs-math libobasis3.6-cs-res libobasis3.6-cs-writer libobasis3.6-draw libobasis3.6-extension-javascript-script-provider libobasis3.6-extension-nlpsolver libobasis3.6-extension-pdf-import libobasis3.6-extension-presentation-minimizer libobasis3.6-extension-presenter-screen libobasis3.6-extension-python-script-provider libobasis3.6-extension-report-builder libobasis3.6-gnome-integration libobasis3.6-graphicfilter libobasis3.6-images libobasis3.6-impress libobasis3.6-javafilter libobasis3.6-math libobasis3.6-ogltrans libobasis3.6-onlineupdate libobasis3.6-ooofonts libobasis3.6-ooolinguistic libobasis3.6-pyuno libobasis3.6-sk libobasis3.6-sk-base libobasis3.6-sk-calc libobasis3.6-sk-help libobasis3.6-sk-math libobasis3.6-sk-res libobasis3.6-sk-writer libobasis3.6-writer libobasis3.6-xsltfilter libperl5.14 libphonon4 libreoffice-debian-menus libreoffice3.6 libreoffice3.6-base libreoffice3.6-calc libreoffice3.6-cs libreoffice3.6-dict-cs libreoffice3.6-dict-en libreoffice3.6-dict-sk libreoffice3.6-draw libreoffice3.6-impress libreoffice3.6-math libreoffice3.6-ure libreoffice3.6-writer libupnp6 libvirtodbc0 nuvola-icon-theme opera perl perl-base perl-modules phonon plasma-desktopthemes-artwork python-cupshelpers system-config-printer system-config-printer-udev virtuoso-minimal virtuoso-opensource-6.1-bin virtuoso-opensource-6.1-common - a few updates including LibO 3.6.5 root@pushkin:/home/pushkin# apt-get install libobasis4.0-base libobasis4.0-calc libobasis4.0-core01 libobasis4.0-core02 libobasis4.0-core03 libobasis4.0-core04 libobasis4.0-core05 libobasis4.0-core06 libobasis4.0-core07 libobasis4.0-cs libobasis4.0-cs-base libobasis4.0-cs-calc libobasis4.0-cs-help libobasis4.0-cs-math libobasis4.0-cs-res libobasis4.0-cs-writer libobasis4.0-draw libobasis4.0-en-gb libobasis4.0-en-gb-base libobasis4.0-en-gb-calc libobasis4.0-en-gb-help libobasis4.0-en-gb-math libobasis4.0-en-gb-res libobasis4.0-en-gb-writer libobasis4.0-extension-beanshell-script-provider libobasis4.0-extension-javascript-script-provider libobasis4.0-extension-mediawiki-publisher libobasis4.0-extension-nlpsolver libobasis4.0-extension-presentation-minimizer libobasis4.0-extension-python-script-provider libobasis4.0-extension-report-builder libobasis4.0-gnome-integration libobasis4.0-graphicfilter libobasis4.0-images libobasis4.0-impress libobasis4.0-javafilter libobasis4.0-kde-integration libobasis4.0-librelogo libobasis4.0-math libobasis4.0-ogltrans libobasis4.0-onlineupdate libobasis4.0-ooofonts libobasis4.0-ooolinguistic libobasis4.0-postgresql-sdbc libobasis4.0-pyuno libobasis4.0-sk libobasis4.0-sk-base libobasis4.0-sk-calc libobasis4.0-sk-help libobasis4.0-sk-math libobasis4.0-sk-res libobasis4.0-sk-writer libobasis4.0-writer libobasis4.0-xsltfilter libreoffice-debian-menus libreoffice4.0 libreoffice4.0-base libreoffice4.0-calc libreoffice4.0-cs libreoffice4.0-dict-cs libreoffice4.0-dict-en libreoffice4.0-dict-sk libreoffice4.0-draw libreoffice4.0-en-gb libreoffice4.0-impress libreoffice4.0-math libreoffice4.0-sk libreoffice4.0-stdlibs libreoffice4.0-ure libreoffice4.0-writer libgnutls-openssl27 libgnutls26 libgnutls26:i386 libgstreamer0.10-0 libgstreamer0.10-0:i386 - again updates, incl. Hi guys, One idea might be to upgrade to a newer version of Boinc, 7.0.27 is far from the latest and greatest. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=D You can aways see the changes from version to version here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_forum.php?id=2 You want the 2nd one on the list. |

One idea might be to upgrade to a newer version of Boinc, 7.0.27 is far from the latest and greatest. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=D I would like to upgrade, but newer versions of BOINC than 7.0.27 require libc newer or equal to 2.14. My Debian Wheezy has only libc 2.13, so I can't... :-( |

Thanks for the information! Any idea about the possibility of upgrading to the server scheduler version that Ralph uses. We seem to have confirmed that it solves this problem, at least for my 2 computers that have this problem. They have both completed at successful tasks on Ralph but continue to have errors on Rosetta when i try them here. Thanks Jim |

Hello, i upgraded to BM 7.0.52 and Nvidia driver 314.07 and issue with client error was resolved! OK, guys, I did not want to, but you and mikey forced me to do this evil thing - today I have compiled BOINC 7.1.0 from GIT and tried again. All four jobs received by this version resulted as SUCCESSFUL! (See tasks no. 565266297, 565266300, 565266471 and 565267021). So, the problem seems to be solved. I'll let you know after some restarts etc. At least for now - thank you :-), Pushkin |

Hello, i upgraded to BM 7.0.52 and Nvidia driver 314.07 and issue with client error was resolved! So I did a reboot and let Rosetta calculate four more tasks. All of them are OK (tasks no. 565445012, 565445013, 565445014 and 565445040), hence it seems, that newer versions of BOINC solve the "client error" issue. Hardware: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz nVidia GeForce GT 630 Software: Debian Wheezy Kernel 3.2.0 nVidia proprietary drivers v. 304.64 Fix: Installation (or compilation) of new BOINC client Compilation on Debian Wheezy: Step 1 - installation of prerequisities apt-get build-dep boinc apt-get install git Step 2 - download current source code via GIT git clone git://boinc.berkeley.edu/boinc.git Step 3 - compilation of BOINC according to official how-to (I used first procedure to have dynamically linked package.) Step 4 - Install & enjoy :-) Have a look into compilation folder ./packages/generic/sea/BOINC - it should include traditional package - install it into your usual folder and run BOINC as you are used to. Can anyone else with Linux confirm that this really works? Pushkin |

Hello, i upgraded to BM 7.0.52 and Nvidia driver 314.07 and issue with client error was resolved! WOW I am VERY glad it is working now!! You should use the mailing list and contact the Boinc Admins at Berkeley and tell them what you have done AND that it now works here. Dr. David Anderson actually came here to try and fix things, he could be VERY interested in what you have done. You can subscribe to the message boards here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6698 And I THINK you can then PM Ageless, one of the guys involved. |

Hello, i upgraded to BM 7.0.52 and Nvidia driver 314.07 and issue with client error was resolved! I am also very glad, I would not like to give up Rosetta as it was my first BOINC project. I have sent a message to boinc_dev mailing list, hopefully those guys will be as happy as us :-) Pushkin |

BOINC 7.0.52 (x64 version) with the 314.07 Geforce drivers seems to work fine for Rosetta. Four work units completed overnight with no issues. Will run some more over the next days to confirm it's actually sorted out. From looking at the successful workunits it seems a lot of people still aren't aware that there's a major problem with rosetta using earlier versions of BOINC and GeForce gpu drivers. I'm seeing people with 8-core units that've only returned errors for their past months of work. Definitely worth putting out a BOINC notice informing people there's an issue and that there're a couple of fixes available for it. If people find out they're wasting hundreds of hours of processing time because someone couldn't be bothered to put out a BOINC notice warning them of issues they're likely to be a little... irritable. |

I'm running NVIDIA 310.32 on x86_64 linux (Fedora 18). I just updated BOINC from 7.0.36 -> 7.0.52 (x86_64 linux build) and had the first successful task completion on Rosetta in weeks. I'll keep an eye on it to see if that continues. Seems to be some kind of interaction between BOINC and the NVIDIA driver that is weirdly version dependent. |
