After 2 years of this app there are errors again...
Debug it or abandon it to pass all on 4.x version, that's the question

Again, all "fadh_" same error

Status: Invalid.
Outcome: Validate error.
Errors: Error while computing.

Strange that the WU was given credit and even was considered the canonical WU. However, later determined in error??

This appears to be the same result as noted in my previous post (Message 89728), notably the stated errors. Why was that one considered a validation error and this one a valid WU? Also wondering why the WU in my previous post wasn't reassigned to another host if WU otherwise OK?

Hello!!

I'm getting an error, "<message>finish file present too long</message> after a WU has completed.

Win 7 SP2, Fully up2date 64 Bit, BOINC 7.12.1 x64, Rosetta Mini v3.78 windows_intelx86

This machine is my "daily driver" & I use it for other non-demanding tasks.

I WAS running BOINC on 100% of the CPU's & the machine DID get sluggish at times.

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1606827

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?userid=472655&offset=0&show_names=0&state=6&appid=

I've searched this forum & couldn't find an answer...

This appears to be an old issue that's ostensibly been resolved, and it hasn't been discussed since 2016:

https://www.google.com/search?ei=ApjHW7A955e2BeO1tPAL&q=%22finish+file+present+too+long%22&oq=%22finish+file+present+too+long%22&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i7i30.967651.971417..972092...0.0..0.54.103.2......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j0i22i30.6CEhGn3jHEY

<core_client_version>7.12.1</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
finish file present too long</message>

I'm backing the "Use at Most" CPU's to 93.75% (30 of 32 threads, 15/16 cores) & setting the project to No New Tasks until I can get this resolved.

I did find messages in the error log:

Most of the tasks mentioned in the error log do NOT show up here:

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?userid=472655&offset=0&show_names=0&state=6&appid=

But this one does: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/result.php?resultid=1036002868

Please let me know what I can do to help troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks!!

Application version Rosetta Mini v3.78 windows_intelx86
Device: 1759960, Task: 1046167754, and WU: 942459814.
Status: Error while computing.
Errors: Too many errors (may have bug) Too many total results.
Outcome: Computation error.
Errors: Error while computing.

Stderr output: Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)

Exit code and error messages basically the same as with previous host trying to crunch this task. Previous host was running Linux OS. Appears may be a problem with the task. If this series of tasks is not currently being reviewed, maybe a review is needed. Thank you.

Just had the batch of my Rosetta Mini 3.78 tasks error out.
These were apparently close to finishing up

This happened after a Windows 10 Power Management resumption.

Noticed in the log

So they WERE running, then were suspended by Windows, and then got a signature error when they restarted? I can only think a virus checker may have modified the program while it was asleep. The signatures are checked when the tasks first download.

If this was the first that the 3.78 was running in a long time, it again would indicate a virus scan resulted in modifying the program. Since the program is shared with all WUs that use it, it may have been download to your machine some time ago, and has been unused while waiting for work with that version to come down.

It could have be the windows virus scanner maybe.
Otherwise I'm a new user migrated from SETI@Home so all files were only downloded in the last week.

It's just the high number of fails. appeared worrisome.

note: It since downloaded a fresh version of MiniRosetta and has successfully completed several hp100 wus.

This probably has been reported, but just in case. Almost all Rosetta Mini v3.78 units fail to download:

4/10/2020 3:50:28 AM | Rosetta@home | Started download of minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip
4/10/2020 3:50:30 AM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
4/10/2020 3:50:30 AM | Rosetta@home | Temporarily failed download of minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip: transient HTTP error
4/10/2020 3:50:30 AM | Rosetta@home | Backing off 03:44:38 on download of minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip
4/10/2020 3:50:32 AM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

It seems to go circles for days until I click Abort Transfer button.

Every time download fails I see the same error regarding minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip file. All other files from Rosetta Mini WU seem to go through download process just fine.

Rosetta v4.12, on the other hand, works without a single issue. So do all WCG projects.

That is interesting. Over half of my Rosettas on eight machines (Ubuntu 18.04.4) are 3.78, and I have had no problems downloading.
Maybe it is a temporary problem.

Which Rosetta version do that tasks that still show files downloading indicate will run?

The only thing I can think of would be an anti-virus program getting in the way of the download. Seems unlikely the server would pick that particular file to have trouble downloading to you.

You might try resetting the project (beware this aborts all of the work units you currently have, so you might want to complete and report some of them first). This refreshes all of the programs and DB files.

@Mod.Sense:

What worked for me is that I copied minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip from some other machine to c: ProgramData BOINC projects boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta. After that download task for minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip cleared up by itself and WU started to work.

Is minirosetta_database_d0bf94b.zip some sort of generic info database for all Rosetta Mini projects?

If I see failures again, I will try to play with installed anti-virus software.

The database files vary by task. But yes, I believe they contain a reference library of known protein configurations. Some of the methods of search use these reference libraries for clues on the protein being studied.

Any file, such as the database, may be used by multiple tasks. BOINC Manager keeps track of it all, and avoids downloading the same file again for another task, if it already has the file on board.

Glad to hear you found a way around the problem.

I don't have any errors with Rosetta Mini 3.78 (tasks like conducting_fiber_fold_........). But my CPU seems to be unstable under load. It goes very often on pause. I set already the pause for other programs load on 80% (was 25% by BOINC default). I also changed less available cores (6) for folding and 2 for system. So it's a bit strange. Normal Rosetta 4.12 tasks did give me continu load, even at 90% or 100% cores (7 or 8) and without any strange behavior.

Just had a bunch of mini rosetta fail:

<core_client_version>7.14.2</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
<file_name>database_357d5d93529_n_methyl.zip</file_name>
<error_code>-120 (RSA key check failed for file)</error_code>
<error_message>signature verification failed</error_message>
</file_xfer_error>
</message>
]]>

However also increased nr of cores in use, not certain if it was a bad batch or if using 10 out of 12 cores was too much (I 6800K @3.5 GHz 32Gb.
Anybody had same issue??

Tried too go back to 6 cores, now waiting on Windows update.........

In general, a signature violation is the result when an anti-virus has modified or quarantined a downloaded file. The methyl zip file is also quite large. So perhaps there was an issue during its download.

So, shouldn't have anything to do with how many cores are active etc. But there may be other issues.

I decided to try that on my Windows 10 computer. Surprise - if Windows 10 even includes IE, it is very well hidden.

It is hidden but it is a last resort browser if/when the original EDGE was broken or a website doesn't tolerate anything else (yes, incredible but possible).

I thought MiniRosetta had expired with all tasks returned, but I just got one and I see there are 7000 new tasks out there <sigh>
