...bumping runtimes further to 12hrs will quadruple your credits compared to that of the faulty default settingNot wanting to mislead anyone, I wrote that wrong Credits per Rosetta Beta v6.06 task will quadruple. Credits per hour of CPU runtime will be about the same. Point being, Rosetta Beta v6.06 tasks set to a target time of: - Not selected: runs for 3hrs and you get 3hrs worth of credit - even though Boinc initially says they'll run for 8hrs - 8 hours: runs for 8hrs and you get 8hrs worth of credit - 12 hours: runs for 12hrs and you get 12hrs worth of credit - even though Boinc initially says they'll run for 8hrs This doesn't apply to Rosetta v4.20 tasks you may occasionally see, where: - Not selected: runs for 8hrs and you get 8hrs worth of credit 8hrs is the ideal as you get the intended Rosetta default runtime and credit (instead of falling short every time), doesn't 'waste' our limited remaining queue of tasks and doesn't screw up Boinc's task scheduling. 12hrs (or 10hrs) is an option to get you more credits per task <if you're meeting deadlines comfortably> without messing up Boinc's scheduling too much and further extends how long our limited queue of tasks lasts for. ![]() ![]() |

Hello. Is it possible to cancel RAM limitations for rosetta beta 6.06? The client on one of my PCs cannot receive WU by issuing the message "Rosetta beta needs 3337.86 MB RAM but only 2301.15 MB is available for use." At the same time, on my main PC, I see that the RAM consumption of one wu is only about 100 MB. |

Hello. I haven't seen tasks asking for that much RAM for a very long time, but back then it was very typical for tasks to require enormous amounts of RAM when they started to run, but never used anywhere close to that amount once they start running, in exactly the way you describe. The solution was to give Boinc access to a large amount of RAM to get past the initial hurdle, knowing that it wouldn't keep hold of it. In Boinc Manager, under the Options menu select Computing preferences On the first tab, Computing In the section 'When computer is in use' I've set 'Use at most 80% of memory' In the section 'When computer is not in use' I've set 'Use at most 90% of memory' If this still isn't enough, you can increase those numbers as much as you like ![]() ![]() |

While these numbers are going up and down, we may run out in as few as 2 days or as many as 5 ~2 hours ago the front page showed As of 23 Jul 2025, 23:02:29 UTC [ Scheduler running ] If there are any tasks left at all by now, I doubt they'll last for more than an hour so make the most use of your remaining cache. We've had a really good run these last few months. Fingers crossed for a resupply before too long. ![]() ![]() |

Hello. Just how much ram does your newest Athon system have? You are using an older version of Windows on Athon. Is it possible that is making a difference in ram usage from your other system? Sid has recommended you set that system's profile to use 80-90% of available ram. I also have my Windows system set up like that. Respectfully, Tom Miller Proud member of the O.F.A. Hello. The users Athlon with memory messages is an old machine - AMD Athlon II Dual-Core M300 and is probably a laptop. According to the host details page for his Computer 6290562 It has 3GB - (actually available 3068.2 MB) RAM. Running on Windows 7 64 bit, Home Basic. ~~~~ Even if he set Max memory to 100%, Rosetta would still complain about not having enough memory available. |

Overall production for Rosetta on BOINCStats shows a huge increase across the past 4 days .... Looks wonderful You can tell from that when they finally fixed the conversion of queued tasks to tasks ready to send. Unfortunately, that's also why all tasks have been exhausted since 24hrs ago... Can't do right for doing wrong around here... ![]() ![]() |

Can't do right for doing wrong around here... Alas...I come back after being gone for a mere 2+ days and find that Einstein is the only project with tasks for my critters to work on. ![]() |

Can't do right for doing wrong around here... I admit to doing a little bit of cheating. Once we got to around 100k tasks left I increased my cache by a further full day on two PCs which, at 12hr runtimes, still have me running the last few tasks now. But it's thin gruel. They'll all be completed some time this afternoon, then we're all in the same boat. Yes, WCG is only providing a few tasks as well. My last 2 WCG tasks will finish in the next 10 minutes on this particular PC. On the plus side, my electricity bills will be a lot cheaper... ![]() ![]() |

Can't do right for doing wrong around here... If you both lose your Einstein password and lose access to the email account you used for connecting to Einstein, expect problems connecting another computer to your Einstein account. I lost both, and even though I still connect to Einstein on one of my computers, I cannot connect the other one also. |

No new work has been released since they ran out, but there will be resends for a few days yet as systems send back errors or just miss deadlines.Yes, WCG is only providing a few tasks as well. My last 2 WCG tasks will finish in the next 10 minutes on this particular PC. Grant Darwin NT |

Just home to find 9 came through here yesterday and another 5 just now. After a dodgy period with all my HDD problems, I'm back to charmed-life mode as there doesn't seem to be anything left for anyone right now ![]() ![]() |
