In Boinc Manager, I cannot "Add Project" the Rosetta@Home to my new machine.

Environment:
macOS 10.12.5
Boinc 7.6.33

Steps to reproduce:
1. In Boinc Manager, choose "Add Project" menu
2. Choose Rosetta@home and click Next
3. Click on "I already have my account" radio button
4. Enter my Email address and password, and click Next
5. Some error message is displayed, and following line appears on the Event Log
Fetching configuration file from https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/get_project_config.php
Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

Thank you.

On the "Computer information" page, could you add the machine name? I don't see it anywhere.

Are you logged in? It should show the computer names if you're logged in (works for me!).

It does sometimes. But it seems to be a bit erratic for me. Even logged in, I may not see it.
Can you see this page?
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=2958505

Even logged in, I see only the Owner, not the machine name. Though to confuse matters, I have once seen the computer name. It may be how I approach the page. But I am logged in all the time.

I'm trying to figure out what is causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? I contacted David Anderson for some help too. Thanks.

Firewall? I had to change the allowed IP in my firewall from 128.95.160.145 to 128.95.160.156 before the boinc client would connect to the server. Browser was connecting fine, but not the core client.

Message 86741 - Posted: 26 Jun 2017, 11:29:27 UTC - in response to Message 86728.

I did the following additional tests, but both failed.

1. Disable macOS's firewall -> fail
2. Upgraded boinc version 7.6.33 to 7.6.34 -> fail
3. Enabled the "http_debug" and "sched_op_debug" flag on cc_config.xml -> SSL certificate error was seen.
The message like : "Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates"
(This is usually seen on other boinc project like World Community Grid...?)

Below is my full event log with "http_debug" and "sched_op_debug" flags enabled.
Timezone is JST (UTC+9).
My Email address and password hash are masked.
Thank you.

I think this issue is fixed now thanks to our sys admin, Luki.

Here are his notes on the fix:

"Monday 6/26 20:12:06 2017 | | [http] HTTP error: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates

I've seen this problem when imperfect clients don't like the order of certificates provided by the server. Browsers don't seem to care. I rearranged them and the SSL test passes with flying colors, including the certificate chain verification (click the IP address for details): https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=boinc.bakerlab.org

OpenSSL is happy too"

I re-tried now, and the result was SUCCESS!!
Now received workunits, and started processing.

Thank you for fixing.

p.s. The project communication defferal time used to be about 4 minutes,
but after the server upgrade, it is only 7 seconds.
This is great! :-)

Well, it's kind of great, but sometimes I do an update, then re-sort the order of my running tasks in the time before the next update and 7 seconds isn't enough. 30 seconds would work better for me.

Also, to repeat, my tasks waiting to run are showing 4 hours - half my default runtime - and I'm grabbing way more tasks to fill my buffer as a result. Can this be changed back please?

Same here. Showing 4 hours instead of 24 hours. I have to abort a lot of WUs.

Looks like you fixed this - remainingestimated times edging back up with each completed task. Thanks.

One other bit of weirdness of low priority: there seem to be 2 different levels of remaining times, split about 50/50. On my machine some are showing 7h 34m, others showing 8h 16m. Not split by task type. I can see rb_06_26 tasks falling each side.

No big deal. Just odd.

Hi,
Since about half my mini rossetta's died with a computation error I am wondering if there are parameters I should know about to tweak so it runs better.

I have run rossetta off and on for a couple of weeks (refusing to get new tasks when I needed to halt it) and this is the first time I have noticed this problem.

Anything I should do?

Tom

Tom Miller's system is encountering errors like this within the first two minutes of execution:
ERROR: unrecognized residue CYB
ERROR:: Exit from: ......srccoreiopose_from_sfrPoseFromSFRBuilder.cc line: 1030
BOINC:: Error reading and gzipping output datafile: default.out
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>

The task names all start with tj_6_28_e_NCAA...

Other systems encounter the same error as the tasks are reassigned.

Looks like Rosetta@home needs to set up a way to mark such classes of workunits as set up incorrectly and therefore not to be counted when deciding how many tasks a user can download.
