Hello all, first post here. Been crunching on Rosetta almost non-stop for five years. I've been celebrating each million-mark with a pizza party for my friends :) Here comes seven million! What a great idea to help get the word out. Wonder what the future cost of offering to pay half for their first million pizza party would be :) Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Dear sirs ,madams It's honor to me to participate in this promising work and i'd be glad to share my abstract with you in order to make it easier. I was thinking about what if we arranged the genomic sequences in more mathematical way i.e. as we all know that Adenine base binds to Thiamine base with double hydroxyl bond and more after the Cytosine base binds to Guanine base by triple hydroxyl bond so we have 2 numbers (2 & 3) that represent them and while the order is alternating between A-T / T-A and G-C/G-C so we can use 3 - 3` / 2 and 2`to represent the base in simple way and by using Series Math and Algorithms methods we can calculate it faster and easier to uncover the genomic mystery waiting for the feedback as soon as possible best regards Abulfetouh Khaled Abulfetouh Mohammed Dermatologist |

About Fighting AIDS Dear sirs ,madams My idea is about fighting not only HIV but also all viruses which i call "virus traps". as i guess the weakest point in the life cycle of any virus is "Attachment" to target cell ,before that it's secured inside its capsid and after that it's mastering the vital processes in the target cell ,so the only time that is the perfect time to attack it is the "Attachment" time. How could we do that? Simply if we designed a protein/proteins that mimic the target receptor e.g. CD4 molecule for HIV that has higher affinity for the viral navigating molecule which binds more firmly and induces conformational changes that uncoats the virus from it's protective capsid -without being introduced to any cell- then we get naked virus genome and enzymes floating freely unprotected in the blood stream left for the brilliance of the body waiting for the feedback as soon as possible best regards Abulfetouh Khaled Abulfetouh Mohammed Dermatologist |

A milestone with a difference... A gap between posts of 3000+ days - last post before this was 10 April 2007. And my recent daily average has dropped to 0.01 or something. I haven't had a net connection for all that time, and that is a bit of a downer for BOINC. I also never uploaded my final work, which is still on the hard drive of my Pentium 3 computers (running Win2k and Linux with kernel 2.6). I'm guessing David won't be too interested in getting it back now... I had to fire up one of the Linux boxes to authenticate my account, first time that box has had power for maybe six years. OOOOh look,my first WU since April 2007 has just started running, having downloaded in the background while I've been typing. bye for now ~~ |

I feel an annual computation certificate would be great and I know it would bring more folks. Do you feel the same and if so can anyone do anything to put it in motion ? |

74534 cobblestones for Rosetta. This is a personal milestone because it is likely to be my last due to issues with this computer and minirosetta. I'm going to continue to run SETI@home but this would seem to be it for this computer and rosetta@home. |

Today is my ten year anniversary volunteering as RosettaMod.Sense. Ten years ago the project was running about 20 TFLOPS and Dr. Baker was asked how much computing power his lab could make good, effective use of, and he said "well, let's just say if you each had 10 friends that could help..." Today the project is consistently over half a PetaFLOP. That's 25x growth in a decade. We, the R@h community and supporters, have all been a part of that. I'm sure over that decade he's found ever more uses of computational power to advance the science of protein structure prediction. Today BakerLab continues to share their technology with other researchers and provides a platform where they can test their own changes and ideas to the program. They're tackling larger proteins than ever as well as docking and synthetic protein structures that may be used some day for targeted drug delivery or diagnostic testing. They've been a leader at CASP over the entire period of time and this means they do presentations to the other researchers as to how they devised a more accurate solution than the other labs. They've spawned a "home game" called Fold.it, to spark imaginations and provide a new avenue to the research; and one of their graduating PhD students from the original team 10 years ago started Eterna to study RNA. They've opened the Institute for Protein Design at University of Washington where they ...aim to design a new world of proteins to address 21st century challenges in medicine, energy, and technology. (watch that "energy" space carefully). These are huge accomplishments, and if you'll note, they each are a foundation for a new beginning, a new avenue, for what is yet to come. Congratulations to BakerLab, and all of the PhD candidates and research assistants that have move on to do their own research over the years. It is with great pride that I render whatever aide I personally can to further your efforts. Posts: 3292 as of August 22, 2016 Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

I get a thrill knowing I have been able to contribute, albeit in a small and passive way, in the this exciting scientific endeavor. Undoubtably, there are many crunchers who get to enjoy the same thrill at least in part due to your aid with troubleshooting, your patient corrections of myriad misunderstandings, and your clarifications of the intricacies of BOINC and rosetta@home for the benefit of experienced and inexperienced crunchers alike. Thank you for all your help. Best, Snags |

I passed 1,000,000 during the night. Was a busy 24 hours, I also passed 10,000,000 at Einstein yesterday afternoon, GPU assisted there of course. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

If I stop Rosetta for a couple days, I can get Einstein over 1 million units (now at 996,333) while Rosetta will hit 260k sometime tonight (it is at 259,816). I should fire up my laptop to see what my other projects are like - heck, yeah! BRB. Acoustics - 18,002 Milkyway - 917,719 Seti - 134,843 (would be more but I lost my original account somewhere) Universe 213,500 Grumpy |
