I'd like to know if this is possible as well. I crunch for myself and I also crunch for a mini-team.... any way to run both accounts on one (dual proc.) machine?

What mini-team? THE REBEL ALLIANCE (of course!)

There's no provision in BOINC for sub-teams, or dividing up your credits, even with multiple hosts. What I would suggest is crunching for one team for some period of time, then "change teams" and crunch for the other team for whatever percentage of the time you want to give them, then change back. Credits don't move around when you do, they stay with the team you were a member of when you earned them.

Because the science applications communicate with BOINC continuously, I don't know of any possible way to run two copies of BOINC on the same host, even if it's dual-CPU; I think everything would just get hopelessly confused.

I would suggest putting the suggestion of "sub teams", and (separately) the suggestion of "splitting credits between teams" in the Wish List area. I can tell you it's likely to be a _real_ low priority for the BOINC developers though, there's just too much else that needs to be done.

I was hoping for a Merge Members type option... this would be ideal..not a "Subteam" just a way to join 2 peoples credits and then delete an account.

it doesnt seem to me that it would take much coding... just merge all the credit.. and delete the empty account.

anyway.. Cheers.

==========

I can be done Bill because I've done it ... :)

It's a complicated procedure to do it though & it's like you said & I felt the same way while doing it that everything was switching around so much & getting confused that it wasn't worth it. After doing a lot of timing on how long it was taking to do the WU's I stopped doing it ...

For most DC-project I have been to/seen the 3rd party stats sites do the Subteaming (often the team itself creates the stats, for example DPC (Dutch Power Cows)

You could create the subteam name, all join that 'name' and as the computers are listed seperatly even across the project, you can then create your stats pages doing that.

Look at DPC https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/team_display.php?teamid=78 and you'll notice they have tags at the beginning of thier names, these are often used to collect the subteams together in the stats.
Since you name can easily be changed with boinc projects, if someone gets it wrong or wishes to jump sub teams its easy just to change the name.

So assuming XS means XtremeSytsems, you should drop that, change your name to
SubTeam~Nickname get your subteam mates to use
SubTeam~ThierNickname ......

Other Subteam could use
ANOtherSubteam~RivalNickname
etc...

Then find a stats site that will merge then or create a grouping function in your own team stats.

Thanks for the feedback everyone (it's greatly appreciated)

I wouldn't want anyone to spend time adding this capability (bigger fish to fry), just something I would have utilized if it were there already.

I can't switch teams because Rebel Alliance and my personal account are all on the same team... (TeAm AnandTech.. of course)

I have multiple computers and can shuffle resources when I need to by detaching and then attaching with the different user name. I will continue to keep this shuffling to a minimum and I do make an effort to work through my cache so I don't leave too many work units in limbo for my silliness.

Happy New Year
