I have 2 accounts with the name Cureseekers~rvec. It was a mistake but now I have my points divided. Is there a way to merge those 2 accounts? |

I have 2 accounts with the name Cureseekers~rvec. It was a mistake but now I have my points divided. Is there a way to merge those 2 accounts? two a/cs both on Rosetta? or two a/cs on differing projects? If on different projects, simply make sure both are running on the same machine and that both have the same email address as well as the same name. Eventually they will synchronise on the various stats sites. If on the same project, I did not know the system allowed this |

If on the same project, I did not know the system allowed this The name is meaningless; only the email address and id are unique. It is possible that project staff could "merge" two different email address accounts, somehow, but I don't know how. You might email David Kim about it, see if he knows of a way. I know SETI has NOT responded to requests to do things like this, so it may not be possible, you may just have to "abandon" the account with the smallest credit total. |

one more question how do I contact david kim? Or anyone else who should be able to do this? dekim at u.washington.edu But don't have high hopes about it. As Bill Michael said, the devs at Seti have never responded to any requests about this. So the advise would be to abandone the one with the least credits and you can always create a sig with that one, so your credit shows. See mine And no, I haven't got my two accounts merged over at Seti. |

I have changed the e-mail address on an account before. While I am certain you must have tried this by now, I have not attempted this with two separate accounts in an attempt to merge them. I should think that if the ID is identical in every respect except the e-mail address (I would be surprised if the system allows this condition to occur) that the system SHOULD then allow you to change the e-mail address on one of them, which would then merge the accounts. But as I said I have never tried it with two separate and distinct accounts. I created an account at SIMAP with a different e-mail address than normal and got a different "Cross Project ID..." (naturally), I noticed this a couple of days later as my SIMAP credits were not with the rest in my sig. I amended the incorrect e-mail to my normal, which then gave the same Cross Project ID and it worked. So give it a try, at least mine worked across projects so it may work within projects? |

no i tryed it but I get the message "same email adres already registered" or something like that. And this is the message you get, if you try to change the mail adress to an adress, which is already used for the other account. So there's no such thing as "merging accounts". The only way it can happen is, if the devs do it manually, which I don't think they will. Then they won't have time for doing other things, for all the merging accounts people would want them to do. So, create an account and stick with it. Take the one with the most credit and leave the other. You can make a sig with it to show your total credit. My name is Conan and my team is Cobar Spiders, created by my brother using the Boinc name of Spider. His problems started when his computer crashed and he had to reformat. He had not saved the set up details so lost the lot. As he had lost everything he thought Boinc had lost everything as well so he created another account instead of using the old account. Now he has 2 accounts with the name "Spider" in team Cobar Spiders in Australia. He also did this with Einstein. He only has 1 AMD 2400+ computer not the 2 showing. Spider is the founder of the team and I can supply his e-mail addresses (he has 2, which may be the problem), if required. Has it become possible/ or is it possible to merge this same person back into one? I only need one brother, two the same I am not sure I can handle. |

My name is Conan and my team is Cobar Spiders, created by my brother using the Boinc name of Spider. Merging of accounts cannot be done by a BOINC user, it has to be done by a system administrator. Most projects do not have the time to do this as a routine service. I will bring this to the attention of the system administrator but I cannot guarantee they will do it. Usually the advice is to abandon the account with the lowest credit. Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

The unique account identifier for all boinc projects is the email address. Please do not post them here. If he created two accounts (each with a different email address), then he now has two accounts. They can't be merged, except by sys admins(who I haven't seen do this). He'll just have to give one up and continue with the other. He ofcourse can still use both, and his credits will show in his team. As the founder of the team he can make anyone else the founder. I say this incase his new account has more credit and he decides to go with that. Sorry he caught himself in this tony |

Thanks for the prompt replies. He should have checked before blindly going ahead. I am requesting this mainly to tidy up the users in the team as it is confusing. |

If he use the team management function and "removes inactive member" on his other account, it will subtract his other accounts credits from the team total. He probably doesn't want to do that. LOL Now if he logs into the unused account, he can "quit the team" and his credit will stay with the team, but his name will drop off the "Active members list" after a day |
